I can't believe I took SO long to do anything about my site but considering a few things that happened, it's not surprising. So the few things that happened 1) I had to scramble to get new hosting for my site and then 2) I lost a LOT of my PIP files. So moving my site to new hosting (though the domain is still mine) on WordPress (thank you so much InuGrrrl!), wasn't the simple copy/paste then tweak a few things that it should have been. Consider exactly how MANY I have made since 2007, my child Rin plushie was my 100th plushie and she was somewhere in the middle of my PIP picture folders. Some designs were done two or three times but the majority were single designs and the last time I checked I had over 150 plushies made. Then on TOP OF THAT 3) my accounting program does not work on Windows 7 so I have to break down and buy a new program. Good thing on that is it will be a newer version of it but I still have to hope like crazy that the new one will be able to convert the old files from a 2006 version to a 2011 (or so) version (at least I have a hard copy of the commission invoices so I can account for what plushie when to whom). Then 4) I only had one backup of most of my files and that was on an external drive that died on me. I now back up my main drive to my second drive (both internal), I don't trust ANY external drives, and I back up both drives to dvd. One day I will either add a third internal drive or decide to finally trust another external (if I get a cooling unit/pad for it since I think that's why the external died - it got too hot even though it was in the wide open) but until then I'll back up with two ways I have now.
Now luckily, I had some of my oldest Publisher files where I had started the site but couldn't use because the page creator my hosting site used didn't recognize the format. So I was able to recreate about 50 of the pages, though I believe the full site had close to three times that amount. Some is better than none. And I also had the majority of my "official" pictures of each plushie online so even though I lost some of the in-progress of some plushies, I still had the final pictures so I could make the next ones the same way. I was also able to pull quite a bit of lost in-progress pictures back due to my great habit of not deleting any emails dealing with plushies from my gmail email account. I was even able to pull back a few face design files from there.
BUT I did lose a lot of my face files. So anyone who had a "special" face on a plushie has a good chance of no one else ever having the same face on a plushie. I can recreate a lot of them since I was also able to find/recreate a lot of my special facial brush tips for my PSP 9. Some of the faces have standard features - like a lot of my Inu Yasha faces have the same shape of eyes, I still have a lot of those in different eye colors so it's easy to just change an eye color. But special little details otherwise are gone. Like the special "tattoo" files I had made for Renji (Bleach) are gone along with his face (which was VERY complicated to make) and my Biker Mice from Mars faces.
Also I was VERY lucky with three folders that I did NOT lose, one of which is the ONLY folder that I do not have a single picture online - my Mommy doll. Yes I did a plushie of my mother and that design is not uploaded anywhere online, it's not even on my site and never will be. The other two folders are ones that I met with the commissioner in person (which I don't normally do) so no pictures when through email.
So as to how it is right now: I have all the PIP picture folders recreated (as much as I can) with dates and commissioner info (as much as I could get), I'm slooooowly getting the individual design pages recreated (there are still a lot of broken design links up), my new semester (starting Monday the 13th) is my class on Web Design and Scripting which will help a lot on getting my site back up, and I am also back to working on plushies. I'm hoping pretty soon my site will be back up at 100% and I will have two new "sets" of designs to showcase - I'm currently working on a Kyoko/Ren (Skip Beat) kissing set and will be starting a Tomoe/Nanami kissing set once they're done. I'm also trying a new style on doing the faces.
So here's to getting my motivation back and new plushie designs on the way.
